Yeddo – Harold Edward McCann, 63, postmaster here since 1947 was found dead in his home here Saturday. He had been in failing health several years but death was unexpected. A native of Adams County, Ohio he served different terms as postmaster here, his service covering 20 years. He was married in 1922 to Grace Taylor who died in 1961. He lived in the Covington community for several years before moving to Yeddo in 1938. He was in the Navy 3 years. Surviving are three sons, John E. Yeddo, William of Rt 4, Veedersburg and Alvin of Bargersville; a daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Talbot of Barnsdall, OK; a brother, Elmer O of Decatur, Ill; and three sisters, Mrs. Agnes Keller of Rt 3, Covington; Mrs. Dorothy Allen of Rt 3, Veedersburg and Mrs. Wanda Mattern of Attica – kbz

YEDDO- Harold Edward McCann, Yeddo postmaster since 1947, was found dead at his home here Saturday morning. Death was attributed to natural causes. He had been in failing health 20 years but death was unexpected. He was 63. Mr. McCann was born April 6, 1900 in Adams County, Ohio, son of Edward B. and Helen Marshall McCann. He was married in 1922 to Grace Taylor, who died in 1961. He attended school at Gessie and Perrysville and lived in the Covington area several years. He moved to this community in 1938 and had served different terms as postmaster covering 20 years. Mr. McCann served in the U. S. Navy three years and was a former member of Moose Lodge at Attica. Surviving are three sons, John E. of Yeddo, William D. of Rt. 4, Veedersburg and Alvin of Bargersville; a daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Talbot of Barnsdall, Okla.; a brother, Elmer O. of Decatur, Ill.; and three sisters, Mrs. Agnes Keller of Rt. 3, Covington, Mrs. Dorothy Allen of Rt. 3, Veedersburg and Mrs. Wanda Mattern of Attica. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and two sisters. The body was taken to Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home at Covington where funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday with Rev. Lowell M. Barnard officiating. Burial will be in Lower Mound Cemetery near Covington. Friends may pay their respects at the funeral home.

Funeral services for Harold Edward McCann, 63, former postmaster at Yeddo, who died early Saturday, Oct. 19, at his home after a long period of failing health, were held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Bodine and Shelby Funeral Home in Covington.  Rev. Lowell Barnard of Kingman, conducted the service and burial took place in the Lower Mound Cemetery. .
He was born April 6, 1900, in Adams County, Ohio, the son of Edward B. and Helen Marshall McCann.  In 1922, he married Grace Taylor who died in 1961.
Mr. McCann served as postmaster at Yeddo for twenty years and had farmed since 1938.  Although he had been in poor health for a number of years, his death was unexpected.
Surviving are three sons, John Edward, Yeddo; William D. of Veedersburg route 4; and Alvin, Bargersvilje, Ind.; one daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Talbot, of Barnsdall, Okla.; three sisters, Mrs. Agnes Keller, Covington Route 3; Mrs. Dorothy Allen, Veedersburg Route 3, and Mrs. Wanda Mattern, Attica; a brother, Elmer O. McCann, of Decatur, Ill., thirteen grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.  - jz
