McBROOM, Martin VanBuren - Fountain County INGenWeb Project

In the death of Martin VanBuren McBroom, in Cherryvale, Kansas another former Hillsboro resident and veteran of the Civil War was taken away. Van McBroom was the son of Wesley McBroom, and was one of the six or seven brothers of that name who came to this township 100 years or so ago. Van at one time owned the farm which Joe Hayes owns, below town, but he moved to Kansas in the early 70s and hence was not well known even to some of his younger relativfes here, but many of our older people remember him as a man of exceptional physical and moral stature and will regret to learn of his death - Hillsboro Times. - kbz
