“Upper Fountain news item” – Mrs. Elbridge McBroom died of consumption at the residence one mile east of Hillsboro on Friday Dec 15, 1893. The funeral services were held in Hillsboro at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Rev. Bowers of the ME Church officiating. The remains were interred in the town cemetery immediately afterward. Mrs. McBroom was of about middle age. She was reared near Boswell and was married to Elbridge McBroom in 1883. She leaves a husband, two small children and a host of friends to mourn over her. – kbz
