Solon L. McBride, age 64, a former resident of Attica, and the father of Mrs. Mary Alice Smith of Covington Rt. 1, died at 3.20 p. m. Monday, Oct. 2, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lafayette. He had been ill for one year. Surviving Mr. McBride, in addition to his daughter here, are: another daughter, Mrs. Jane Stewart of Wilkinson; five grandchildren; one brother, Freeman McBride of Wingate; and one sister, Mrs. Pearl Weigle of Attica Rt. 4. He was preceded in death by his wife, Genevieve Smith McBride, one sister and three brothers. Mr. McBride had been a resident of the Indiana State Soldiers Home in Lafayette for the past five years. Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock this afternoon, Oct. 5, at the Soldiers' Home, where the body laid in state for one hour before the services.
