McALISTER, Elmer Clyde

Elmer Clyde McAlister, widely known young man of this vicinity died at his home 704 Liberty Street at 2:05 o'clock Saturday afternoon, a victim of pneumonia. He had been ill for one week. Mr. McAlister was an employee of the Hydraulic Brick Company. He enlisted in the service of his country during the World War but was honorably discharged a few days after enlistment on account of defective hearing. He was born on August 25, 1895 at Mellott, the son of John Andrew and Minnie L. Cooper McAlister. On Feb 22, 1921 he was married to Garnet Iris Jones of Ladoga. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, a daughter, Mae Maxine, his mother, one sister, Mrs. Ethel Mae Simmons, and a brother, Roland Sherman McAlister, all of this city, his grandfather and grandmother and a number of other relatives. His father, John A. McAlister died on March 29, 1912. The funeral will be held from the First Baptist Church at 10 o'clock Tuesday morning with the Rev. BE Antrobus in charge. Burial will be made at the Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. The remains will lie in state at the church from 9 a.m. Tuesday until time for the services. - kz
