HILLSBORO—William Lyon, 89, former Hillsboro postmaster and businessman, died Tuesday night in Culver Hospital at Crawfordsville where he had been a patient since Jan. 22. Previously he was a patient at the Rudisill Nursing Home in Crawfordsville. He had been seriously ill since suffering a hip fracture. Mr. Lyon served as Hillsboro postmaster 12 years. He also operated a grocery store and real estate business in Hillsboro several years. He was a member of the Hillsboro Christian Church and Knights of Pythias Lodge. Mr. Lyon was the son of George and Mary Hayes Lyon. He married Jennie Willis of Hillsboro, who survives. His widow is a patient at the Rudisill Nursing Home in Crawfordsville. A brother, Ora Lyon of Los Angeles, Calif., and several nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by a 12-year-old daughter, Margaret. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday in the Crumley Funeral Home at Hillsboro, with burial at Rose Hill Cemetery. Rev. Homer Cole will be the officiating minister. Friends may call at the funeral home, beginning at noon Thursday. --typed by Walt W
