Walter C. (Dutch) Lowther, 64, Newton, formerly of Logansport and Delphi, died at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at the VA Hospital, Danville, Ill. Born in Delphi, April 9, 1911, he was the son of Walter C. and Minnie Lowther. He was married July 3, 1946, to June Hughes. A retired grocer, he formerly worked in Logansport. He was a member of the Newton United Methodist Church, a naval veteran of World War II, and was a graduate of Delphi High School and Purdue's Real Estate School. He was also a member of the Quigle-Palin American Legion and the Richland Masonic Lodge. Surviving with his wife are his mother, Mrs. Minnie Lowther, Delphi; one daughter, Mrs. Melissa Coon, Veedersburg; and two sisters; Mrs. Pearl Pearson and Mrs. Edith Ashba, both of Delphi. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Crumley-Williams Funeral Home, Hillsboro, with the Revs. Donald A. Watson and Walter C. Williams officiating. Burial will be in the National Cemetery at the VA Hospital, Danville. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Sunday.
