COVINGTON - Walter F. Long, age 76, a life resident of Danville, and brother of Mrs. Marie Wilcoxen of Covington, died at 4:55 p.m. Wednesday Jan. 3. Born Aug. 3, 1891, in Danville, he was the son of John and Sarah Rouse Long. He farmed until he retired in 1947. He was married Dec. 25, 1912, in Danville, to Mary Kern, who survives. They resided at Amos Corner until fire destroyed their home Nov. 1, 1966. Surviving, in addition the wife are: three sons, Lawrence of Danville, Roy of Brazil and Glenn W. of Kalamazoo, Mich. four brothers, Richard, Roscoe and Harry Long, all of Danville, and Russell Long of Gary; two sisters, Mrs. Wilcoxen of Covington and Miss May Long of Danville; nine grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Free Methodist Church in Danville. The Rev. Ralph Bright officiated and burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, near Oakwood, Ill. - jlr
