Hillsboro - Paul Long, 71-year-old prominent resident of this community, sustained a fatal heart attack at 2:30 p.m. Friday at his home. Mr. Long, who had been washing the family automobile, sustained the fatal seizure in the basement of his home. His body was found by his wife, Reed. A native of Hillsboro and a life-long resident of the community, he was a retired farmer. He was a director and vice-president of the Hillsboro State Bank. A charter member of the Fountain County Co-Op and Farm Bureau, he had been a Farm Bureau director since it was organized. He also was a member of the Hillsboro Christian Church and was an elder in the church. Born March 26, 1892 near Hillsboro, he was the son of Everett and Ellen Myer Long. He was twice married. He first was married Feb. 4, 1914 to Lela Hersberger, who died Aug. 28, 1932. On March 27, 1954 he was married to Reed Janeway, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Harold and Fred, both of Crawfordsville; a daughter, Mrs. Evelyn Hall of near Veedersburg; a brother, Thurman of Indianapolis; two sisters, Mrs. June Campbell of Lafayette, and Mrs. Mary Starnes of Crawfordsville; and three grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at the Christian Church here with Rev. Ross Kirk officiating. Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Friends may pay their respects at Crumley Funeral Home here Saturday evening and after 3 p.m. Sunday. The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to services.

The Rev. Ross Kirk officiated and burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery in the Hillsboro area. Paul Long, 71, a former director and vice president of the Hillsboro State Bank and a lifetime resident of the county was found dead in his basement about 2:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28. Coroner Ralph Nelson investigated and attributed death to a heart attack. Mr. Long and his wife had been washing their auto a short time before she found him.
He was born March 26, 1892, near Hillsboro, the son of Everett B. and Ellen Myer Long. He was married Feb. 4, 1914 to Lela Hershberger who preceded him in death on Aug. 28, 1932. He was later married March 27, 1954 to Reed Janeway who survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Evelyn Hall, Veedersburg; two sons, Harold and Fred, Crawfordsville; a brother, Thurman Long, Indianapolis; two sisters, Mrs. June Campbell, Lafayette, and Mrs. Mary Starnes, Crawfordsville; and three grandchildren.
Services were at 2 p.m. Monday at the Hillsboro Christian Church. The Rev. Ross Kirk officiated. Burial, with the Crumley Funeral Home, in charge, was at Rose Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Lyron Ford served as organist and the pallbearers were Robert Clements, Lyron Ford, Lee Moffett, Richard Myers, Marion D. Glascock, and Sam Janeway.
