LIVENGOOD, Thomas - 1880
Source: Unknown newspaper dated Dec. 18, 1880
At the hour of mid-day, on Sunday last, when the genial rays of the sun were making glad the faces of nature, dispelling the chilly frost of premature winter, the spirit of Uncle Thomas Livengood took its flight to its heavenly home, which cast sorrow over the whole community in which he lived. His death was not unexpected, as he was ailing for some months. Mr. Livengood was born in Davidson county, North Carolina, June 14, 1797, making his age 83 years, 5 months, and 27 days. He was married to Eva Shular April 16, 1818, by whom he was the father of fifteen children, six sons and nine daughters. He emigrated to Fountain county, Indiana, in the year 1834. He was married the second time to Elizabeth Keeling, in May, 1834, by whom he was the father of three children, one son and three daughters, making in all eighteen children, of whom eleven are living. He was the grand-father of seventy-nine living children, and the great-grandfather of fifty-nine children. He was a devout member of the Lutheran church, and died in that faith. – thanks so much to Susan W for this one 😊
