Covington—Mary A. Lipscomb, 91, Covington, formerly of Danville, Ill., died at 7:35 p.m. Saturday, March 4, 1989 at United Samaritans Medical Center, Logan Campus, Danville.
She was born Aug. 31, 1897 in Castleton, the daughter of Allen and Anna Christian White. She was married March 1, 1919 in Danville to R. Kenneth Gray, who preceded her in death Feb. 25, 1950. In 1953, she married George Lipscomb, who preceded her in death in February 1972.
She was a member of the First Church of Christ in Danville, where she was very active. She enjoyed gardening and sewing.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Leo (Myrna) Soneson, Covington, and Mrs. Orville (Mary Jean) Simons, Lake Placid, Fla.; three stepdaughters, Rosalie Gilliland and Juanita Williams, both of St. Louis, Mo., and Mrs. Carl (Thelma) Moorhous, Port St. Lucia, Fla.; two brothers, Paul White, Akron, and Earl white, Woodburn, Ore.; two sisters, Mrs. Pauline Brookie, Carmel, and Mrs. Esther Knauss, Indianapolis; 20 grandchildren; 51 great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Mrs. Harold 9Wilena) Voight in 1985, a stepson, Jack Lipscomb in 1951, three sisters, a brother and a great granddaughter.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Sunset Funeral Home, Danville, with Donald P. Thornton officiating. Burial was in Sunset Memorial Park. – thanks to s
