HILLSBORO — Clarence C. Linzie, 92, Hillsboro, died at 9:45 p.m. July 28, 1999, at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center. Born March 23, 1907, in Greenwood, he was the son of Charles and Jennie Norman Linzie. He married Mary McMillen in Hattiesburg, Miss. She survives. He was a graduate of Greenwood High School, a member of the Greenwood Christian Church and the Greenwood Masonic Lodge 514 F & A.M. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army in WW II as a Master Sergeant. He and his wife operated the Greenwood Bar until 1961, the Linden Bar from 1961-1973 and the Hillsboro Tavern from 1973 until he retired in September of 1988. Survivors, besides his wife, include: son, Ed Linzie and daughters, Marilyn Asher, Crawfordsville, Jane Shirley, Seymour and Kathy Nickle, Hillsboro. He was preceded in death by five brothers and one grandson. Funeral services were Aug. 1 at Maus Funeral Home in Hillsboro with Rev. Harold Holt officiating. Memorial services were also conducted by the Hillsboro Masonic Lodge 385 F&AM. Memorial contributions can be made to the animal welfare league of Fountain County. – jlr
