WILLIAM L. LINDLEY,   son of Joseph and Nancy Lewis Lindley, was born in Parke county southeast of Kingman, July 7, 1845, and died November 7, 1914 at the age of 69 years and 4 months.  He was married to Nancy C. Wilkey November 5, 1868.  To this union were born 3 children,  Milton M.,  Clara L., and Lora E., the latter having preceded him in death 16 years in September.  His vocations in life were carpentering and farming.   He was converted to Christ prior to the erection of the old Beech Grove church in a house-to-house prayer meeting, which particular occasion was at his own home.   Following his conversion, it was through his influence,  his brother, John Wesley, and brother-in-law Mike Watt that the above mentioned church was built.  He contributed heavily on the church at Cates and had been a member of the churches all during their existence.  He had been a sufferer of heart trouble for a number of years but did not consider it dangerous until last January.  He was able to be up around the house till on July 27th, since which time he has been confined to his bed.  During this time he was fortified with patience, never uttering a word of complaint.  In early morning on October 30th he called the family around his bed and gave each a blessing as Jacob of old, saying,  “I am ready to go there is nothing in the way.   Of course I would like to stay with you but if it is the Lord’s will I am ready.   Praise the Lord.  Amen; Amen.” It was his request that   Revs.  Levi Woody and
J. M. McHargue preach the funeral and make arrangement as to his place of burial.  Funeral services were held Monday at 10 o’clock in the U.B. church at Cates.  Burial was made at Rush Creek.   -s
