VEEDERSBURG - Mrs. Leona B. Lightle, age 74, a former Fountain County resident, died Tuesday, July 29, in St. Elizabeth Hospital in Danville, Ill. Mrs. Lightle, who lived on Rt. l, Westville, Ill., had been in declining health for several years and was admitted to the hospital on Monday afternoon. She left Fountain County in 1955 for Illinois. Mrs. Lightle was born in Champaign, Ill., on July 28, 1895, the daughter of John and Amelia Minifer Hughes. She was first married to Oscar Hinote, who preceded her in death and subsequently to Charles Lightle. Her marriage to the latter was solemnized on July 14, 1944. Mr. Lightle survives. Other survivors include: five sons, Harold Hughes of Champaign, Ill., Oscar Hinote of Veedersburg, John Hinote of Fairmount, Ill., Carl Hinote of Danville, and Glen Hinote, who is serving with the Army in Vietnam; three daughters, Mrs. Julia Rusk and Mrs. Mildred Clark of the Veedersburg community and Mrs. Ruth Dowers of Tangier; two stepsons, Ed Hinote of Cates and George Hinote of Berwyn, Ill. Also surviving are: two brothers, William Hughes of Waynetown and Ernest Hughes of Hobart; two sisters, Mrs. Frances Sayer of Pine Village and Mrs. Edith Northcraft of West Virginia; one half-brother, George Shreves of Londonville, Ohio; 19 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Fishero Funeral Home in Veedersburg. The Rev. Burton Heline of Fairmount officiated. Burial was in Rockfield Cemetery, southeast of Veedersburg. - jlr
