Richard C. Lewsander, 63, a life resident of Fountain County, died at 5:55 a.m. today (Dec. 8, 19670 at St. Elizabeth Hospital. He had been admitted there late Thursday. Born Jan. 12, 1904, in Wabash Township, he was the son of William and Ida McCoy Lewsader. He was married Aug. 27, 1927, to Frances McComas, who died June 25, 1930. He was married July 3, 1931, to Ethel Hershberger, who survives. Mr. Lewsader was a member of the First Church of Christ, Fountain Masonic Lodge 60, Troy Chapter 143 Order of Eastern Star, Wallace Low 12 Club and Tidal Lodge 36 Knights of Pythias. He was also a life member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis. He was an associate member of the Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers Association and retired in June 1967 from the Greencastle Production Credit Association after 15 years service. Mr. Lewsader was employed at the C&EI Railroad Shops in Danville for 21 years and had owned a furniture store in Covington for eight years. He was a veteran of service in the Army Air Corps for two years after World War I. He was serving as chairman of the Snoddy's Mill project for the Fountain County Historical Society. Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Katherine McConnell of Covington; three sons, Richard E. of Covington, Russell of Covington Rt. 2 and Donald H. of Kingman; a brother, Sherman of Covington; nine grandchildren and three step grandchildren. He also was preceded in death by two sons and a brother. Services will be at 2 p.m. EST Sunday at the Church of Christ. The Rev. Harold Fogle and the Rev. Glenn Ray will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. The body will be taken to the family residence at 709 Washington. Friends will be received there after noon Saturday. The body will be taken to the church an hour before services. Masonic services will be conducted at the gravesite.
