Standford Irvin Lewis was born in North Carolina Oct 12, 1822 and died at the home of his son-in-law, Freeman Orahood in Parke County Feb 27, 1906 aged 83 years 4 months 12 days. The funeral services were held last Thursday at his late home, interment following in Mt. Hope Cemetery near this city. He was the head of one of the well-known families of South Fountain County and was united in marriage on August 20, 1849 to Miss Morning Lamb, and to this union were born two sons and four daughters, Mrs. Fred Ferguson of this city being one of the children and the late Mrs. Stafford being another. The wife and three daughters still survive him and were present at the funeral services. The family moved to Indiana in 1851 joined the Christian Church about 44 years ago being a deacon of the church until the time of his death. He was a loving husband and kind father, a good neighbor and friend to all. Funeral services were conducted Thursday by Rev AR Heath, his neighbor for 55 years, interment following in Mt. Hope cemetery. –- kbz
