Martha LEWIS, who had made her home with her sister, Mrs. Samuel OSBORN near Silverwood for several years, died Oct 1, 1907. She was born in North Carolina June 24, 1812, being 95 years 3 months 7 days old when she died. She was married to Jas. Lewis after coming to this country and the following children blessed their happy home. Cornelia Osborn; John Lewis; Wm. M. Lewis; Polly Pilkinton; Jas. J. Lewis and Martha E. Kerksey, 3 of whom preceded their mother to their reward. She attended the Millcreek Baptist Church in early life and lived a faithful member for almost 70 years. She was a kind obedient mother and true wife, and was a general favorite among her neighbors. She leaves three children, a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren and a host of friends to mourn her loss. Funeral services were conducted from Bethel Church by Rev. Jackson Marshall after which the remains were laid to rest in the Cemetery near that place.
