George LeRoy Lewis, age 79, brother of Mrs. Cora Sweet of Covington, who had been making his home with a daughter, Mrs. Maxine Hendrix of Dana, died at 11:50 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, at the Cole Hospital in Champaign, Ill. He had been a patient there 80 days. Mr. Lewis was born Aug. 28, 1887, in Kansas, the son of John V. and Rose Benner Lewis. He was married in 1909 to Anna Hepsher, who died in 1937. He was a barber for 49 years and had operated a shop in Dana. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and Knights of Pythias Lodge. Surviving are: two daughters, Mrs. Hendrix and Mrs. Marzelle Naylor of Montezuma; one brother, Edward of Indianapolis; four sisters, Mrs. Daisy Eberly of Chicago, Mrs. Mable Planck of Metcalf, Ill., Mrs. Sweet of Covington and Mrs. Rozanne O'Conner of Chicago; and three granddaughters. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Kersey Funeral Home in Dana. Dr. Forest Berry and the Rev. Lewis Drengacs officiated and burial was in Prairie Township Cemetery.  --typed by Walt W
