COVINGTON — Elizabeth Lewis, 76, Covington, died at 11:32 a.m. Friday, April 12, 2002 at home, having been seriously ill three months. She was born July 3, 1925 in Stringtown, the daughter of Alex H. and Edith (Rowell) Johnson. She married Fredrick Keith Lewis Aug. 22, 1942 in Henderson, Ky. He preceded in death Nov 22, 1991. She was a life resident of Fountain County. She graduated from Perrysville High School in 1942. She was employed at Lauhoff Grain Company in Danville, Ill. for 20 years, retiring in 1990. An excellent cook, seamstress and homemaker, she enjoyed reading, playing cards, line dancing and especially loved her children and grandchildren. She was a member of Stringtown Church of God, Golden Strings and Covington Senior Citizens. She was a volunteer at The Waters in Covington. Survivors include: five children, Cate Lewis, Mt. Shasta, Calif., Connie Barnett, Falmouth, Mass., Greg Lewis, Albany, Ore., Christine (Terry) DeSutter, West Palm Beach, Fla. and Jay Lewis, Covington; a brother, Rendall R. (Martha) Johnson, Covington; a sister, Mary Wolter, Covington; and five grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Shelby Funeral Home, Covington, with the Rev. Phillip Crubaugh officiating. Burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Covington.
