Twenty-two-year-old Mark Lewin of RR 2, Covington, was killed Saturday morning, January 22, after his pickup truck crashed south of the Beef House Restaurant.
According to investigators, Lewin was westbound on County Road 1650 North, near the intersection of Interstate 74 and State Road 63. Lewin’s truck apparently left the road and became airborne across a ravine, smashing into the other side. Although the accident happened early Saturday, it was not reported until 3:30 p.m. The crashed truck was hidden from motorists using the road. Police theorize Lewin was killed instantly due to massive chest injuries.
Born August 9, 1960 in Danville, Illinois, the victim was the son of James Edwin and Joyce Hendrickson Lewin. He married Donna Marie Nelson March 17, 1979 in Covington. A life resident of the Covington area, Lewin was a former employee of Robintech Inc. in Danville. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Covington.
Survivors, in addition to his mother and wife, include a daughter, Brandi Lynn, at home; five brothers, James of Haymarket, Virginia, David of Covington, Michael of Grinnell, Iowa, John of Arvada, Colorado, and Matthew of Perrysville; two sisters, Linda Allen of Arvada, Colorado, and June Dibble of Covington; his maternal grandparents, John and Anna Hendrickson of Dyersburg, Tennessee; several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father.
Services were conducted Tuesday at Bodine and Shelby Funeral Home in Covington with Rev. Edgar Allen officiating. Burial was in Hicks Cemetery in Perrysville. – thanks to S
