LEIF, Anna Holm (?)

Anna Leif, one of Attica’s most beloved senior citizens, died at 8- a. m. Sunday in Community Hospital where she had been a patient since two days prior to the Pleasant Valley Lodge Fire. Before being transferred to the hospital, Mrs. Leif, 97, spent two years at the nursing home in Kramer. Born March 2, 1871, in Lammarp, Sweden, Mrs. Leif came to this country at the age of 20. She arrived in New York, unable to speak a word of English, went to Fort Wayne by train and eventually ended up in Attica. At first she did housework for the Finfrock family and later for J. Frank McDermond. She was married to George Reese first. He preceded her in death. She later married Tom Leif, operator of a buggy shop in Attica. Mrs. Leif was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Attica. Survivors include two nephews, Charles Holm of Dearborn, Mich., and Joe Johnson of Williamsport, and a niece, Mrs. Gus Michals of Chesterton. Final rites Tuesday at the First Lutheran Church with Rev. Karl Korbel officiating. Burial in the family lot in Riverside Cemetery, with Roemer in charge. – jlr
