Mrs. Hulda Clementine Wildman Leas was born in Piatt County, Illinois on April 29, 1878.?? Her early girlhood was spent in Illinois and from the earliest days of life she made the best of every opportunity to grow and
develop a well rounded out life.
She was especially interested in the finer things of life and studied music while attending college at the Christian College at Merom, Indiana. Here is where she met Elmer Leas who became her husband on June
14, 1898.?? After spending some time enjoying the West and a while in Urbana, Illinois, they moved to their farm in Fountain County where they resided until they passed away.
Stilled are the lips that spoke words of love, cheer, kindness, courage and comfort, deaf are the ears that hear our very word, closed are the eyes that saw only the good in us and the needs of us.?? Motionless are
the hands that worked for us and did loving things for us. Stilled are the feet that came and brought us the blessings of life.?? Her home was the scene of many happy gatherings. The doors of that home were open to
all who entered and a cheerful welcome awaited. Happy memories of the enjoyment in her home has proved a blessing to a host of relatives and friends... (poem)
She leaves four children: Mrs. Lucile Davidson; Freeman and Forrest Leas, and Mary Ellen Phillips, six grandchildren one sister, Mrs. Emma Harrington, several nieces and nephews and an innumerable host of
friends to mourn her passing --- kbz
