Forrest Edwin Leas, 45, Veedersburg Rt 2 died at 9:45 p.m. Sunday oct 5 in Lake View Hospital where he had been a patient for 3 days.  The son of Elmer Edwin Leas and Hulda C. Wilreman he was born Oct 7, 1912 north of Veedersburg in the Osborn Prairie Community.  He married Jane Ermann on Feb 18, 1940 and she survives.  Survivors in addition to the widow include four children: Vic, Peggy, Jeff and Stu all at home; a brother, Freeman of Indianapolis and a sister, Mary Ellen Phillips of Oxford, Indiana.  Forrest, a graduate of Veedersburg HS in 1931 attended Purdue University was a member of Fountain County Purdue Agriculture Club; an elder at Osborne Prairie Church and treasurer of Osborne Prairie Cemetery Board.  He was a member of the Veedersburg Masonic Lodge, Consistory of Indianapolis Murat Shrine of Indianapolis and Gao Grotto of Danville. He was active in Soil Conservation Service of Fountain County of which he was superintendent and a member of board of directors of the county’s 4-h Club.  He was a member of the Fountain County Farm Bureau and a charter member of the Veedersburg Lions Club.  He was very active in community civic events.  Services were at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Osborne Prairie Church.  Burial was in Osborne Prairie Cemetery with the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Service in charge.  Masonic rites were conducted by the Veedersburg Lodge at the cemetery. – kbz
