COVINGTON — Mont B. Layton, age about 66, a resident of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., for a number of years and a native of Fountain County and former Covington resident, died unexpectedly Sunday, Jan. 21, after suffering a heart attack at his home. He had been ill one week but death was not expected at this time. Mr. Layton was born in this county, the son of Fred and Etta Thompson Layton. He is survived by his wife; two sons, Bobby of Ft. Lauderdale and Jim of Atlanta, Ga.; two grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Beryl Galloway of Covington and Florida; one brother, Max Layton, also of Covington; and two nephews, John Allen Layton of Attica and Gene Layton of Danville, Ill. Mr. and Mrs. Max Layton and their two sons left Sunday for Ft. Lauderdale, where the funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon. John Allen Layton and Gene Layton will return home by plane on Wednesday. Their parents will remain there longer. --waw
