LAYTON, H. Max

H. Max Layton of Covington, age 75, died Sunday, June 7, in Royal Oaks Nursing Home at Dade City, Florida. He was born in Marshfield, September 2, 1905, the son of Albert B. and Ara Wrae Layton. October 29, 1935, he married Mary Hastings, who survives. Layton retired in 1970 after employment as a blacksmith at the Chicago and Eastern Illinois Railroad shops for 47 years and was a member of the Blacksmiths, Forgers, Hammers and Helpers Union.
  Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Marva Romine and Mrs. Vala Keller, both of Danville, Illinois; a brother, Paul L. of Homewood, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.
  Funeral services were held this afternoon (Thursday) at Bodine and Shelby Funeral Home in Covington with Rev. George Beatty officiating. Burial was in Mount Hope Cemetery at Covington. – thanks to S
