LAWSON, Ruth Stokes

Mrs. Ruth Stokes Lawson, 77, of 1007 Hughes Street in Rockville, died at 2:45 p.m. Friday, March 9, 1979 at Vermillion County Hospital in Clinton. She had been a patient a short time.
Born March 1, 1902, in Newport, she was a daughter of John H. and Oda Thomas Stokes. On Dec. 10, 1920, she married Marvin B. Lawson. He survives.
Other survivors include four sons, Marion of Hillsdale, Billie Joe of Rensselaer, Earl Ray of Cicero, and Leland of Covington; four sisters, Mrs. Virginia Crippin of Georgetown, Ill., Mrs. Dorothy Jovanavich of Clinton, Mrs. Barbara Burnell of Aurora, Ill., and Mrs. Martha McIntyre of Crawfordsville; 20 grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Roscoe Stokes, a half brother, Willard Gallahue, and a grandchild.
Funeral services were held Monday at Butler Funeral Home in Rockville, with the Rev. John E. smith officiating. Burial was in Memory Gardens Cemetery. – thanks to S
