ATTICA — Herbert Lee Lawson, 64,
2519 N. State Road 341, Attica, died at 1:37 a.m. Saturday, May 10, 2003 in St.
Elizabeth Medical Center, Lafayette. He was born March 11, 1939 in
Crawfordsville, the son of Maurice Lee and Josephine Grace Brier Lawson. He
married Camilla McCullough June 2, 1961 in Gallatin, Tenn. She survives. He was
raised in the Green Hill and Otterbein area, graduating from Otterbein High
School in 1957. He later graduated from Austin Peay University with a degree in
business administration. He had resided in rural Attica since 1973. He worked
as a registered environmental health specialist for Tippecanoe County for over
15 years. He was a veteran of the Vietnam Conflict, serving in the U. S. Army.
He was a member of the Elmwood Avenue Church of Christ in Lafayette,
Quigle-Palin American Legion Post of Newtown and was vice-commander, Lafayette
Kiwanis Club, Indiana Environmental Health Association, the John Purdue Club,
Boilermaker Network and Faculty Fellow in Harrison Hall at Purdue University.
He enjoyed golfing, basketball, farming, genealogy and was an antique
collector. Survivors, besides the wife, include: three sons, Ray Morris
(Elizabeth) Lawson, Indianapolis, Jay Kyle (Kim) Lawson, Crawfordsville and
Gary Lee Lawson, Phoenix, Ariz.; a sister, Diane (John) Cutts, Veedersburg; and
five grandchildren, Meghan, Ryan, Katie, John and Nick Lawson. He was preceded
in death by his parents. Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Maus
Funeral Home, Attica, with Dr. Gayle Crowe officiating. Burial with military
honors was in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery Memorial contributions may be made to
the Elmwood Avenue Church of Christ. –
