LAWSON, Edward L.

Relatives in Hillsboro and this area have received word of the death of Edward L. Lawson, 90, of Muncie, husband of the former Ada Carpenter, who resided in the Stone Bluff area for a number of years.  He died at the Ball Hospital in Muncie, Wednesday noon, following a long illness.  He was born in Staffordshire and attended DePauw University, before being inducted into the Spanish American War.  He received his degree from Union Christian College at Merom and his Master Degree from the University of Illinois in 1914.
He was former Dean of Defiance College, retiring in 1932.  He was an
ordained minister and the family moved to Muncie in 1941.  He was a member of the Eden Congregational Christian Church.
He is survived by the wife, two daughters, Miss Virginia Lawson, of Chicago, Ill. and Mrs. Lois Lawson Dillie, of Angola, Portuguese, West Africa; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.  One daughter, Jean, preceded him in death.
Funeral service was held at the Meeks Mortuary in Muncie at 3 p.m. Friday with Rev. Andrew Craig and Rev. Charles Jennings officiating.  Burial was in Elm Ridge Cemetery, Muncie.
