ATTICA — Avis (Wood) Lawson, 99,
formerly of 813 S. McDonald St., Attica, died at 7:15 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 22,
2006 in Woodland Manor Nursing Center, Attica. She was born May 28, 1907 in
Newtown, the daughter of Faber Mirbel and Maude Eunice (Furr) Wood. She married
Burton A. “Pike” Lawson April 27, 1929 in Rockville. He preceded in death April
4, 1987. She graduated from Linden High School and had resided in Attica for most
of her life. She was a homemaker. She formerly attended the Attica Free
Methodist Church. She was an active golfer and bowler in her earlier years. She
participated in several tournaments and leagues through the years. Survivors
include: five grandchildren, Kim, Kevin, Curtis, Simone and William Lawson;
five great-grandchildren, Alex, Zachary, Samantha and Nicholas Lawson and
Desmond Barron; and a nephew, Keith Harper, Attica. She was also preceded in
death by two sons, Richard Gregory and Gary Bill Lawson. Funeral services were
at 2 p.m. Thursday in Maus Funeral Home, Attica, with the Rev. Thomas Brown
officiating. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Attica. Memorial contributions
