Fred La Tourette, 90, of Perryville, Ind. died at Lake View Memorial Hospital at 1:05 a.m. Thursday (Aug. 8, 1974). He had been an invalid since 1965. He was born March 24, 1884 in Wabash Township, the son of Captain Schuyler and Catharine Cooper La Tourette. He married Mabel Cossey on Sept. 28, 1911 and she survives. Mr. La Tourette's main interest was politics. He held several offices, as treasurer of Fountain County in the 1930s and dairy inspector for the State Board of Health. He also served as a delegate to the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia when Harry S. Truman was nominated President and continued to be a delegate for the Indiana State Democratic Convention until his paralysis. He was a 50-year member of Fountain Lodge 60 F&AM and Chapter 145 of the Order of the Eastern Star. He also belonged to Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, Zorah Chapter of the Shrine of Terre Haute, Tidal Lodge 36 Knights of Pythias, French Hutuenet Society and the Presbyterian Church of Covington, Ind., until its dissolution. He was treasurer of Highland Hopewell Cemetery Association for 22 years. An infant son preceded him in death. Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Henry (Myrna) Greene of Scottsdale, Ariz., and two sons, Jean of Perryville and Lawrence of Ogden Dunes, Ind., 11 grandchildren and one great granddaughter. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home. The Rev. George Beatty will officiate. Interment will be at Hopewell Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday with a Masonic service at 8 p.m.  --Typed by Debby Masterson.

PERRYSVILLE – Fred C. LaTourett, 90, of near Perrysville, a farmer who had been active in the Democratic party, died at 1:05 p.m. Thursday in Lakeview Memorial Hospital at Danville, Ill. He had been an invalid
since 1965 when he was injured in a fall from a barn. Mr. LaTourette served two terms as Fountain County treasurer beginning in 1930. He worked for a time as a dairy inspector for the State Board of Health. He
had operated a farm along with his son since the son’s return from service after World War II. He served as a delegate to the Indiana Democratic Convention until his health prevented him from continuing. He
was a delegate to the national convention when Harry S. Truman was nominated for president. Mr. LaTourette was a member of Fountain Lodge 60, F & AM, and served as its master several times. He received his 50-year pin as a member of the lodge last year. He also was presented a 50-year pin as a member of Tri Chapter 145, OES, this summer. He was worthy patron of that organization several times. He was a member of the Scottish Rite, Zorah Chapter of Shrine at Terre Haute and the Indiana
French Huguenot Society. He had been a member of Tidal Lodge 36 of the Knights of Pythias at Covington more than 50 years and was a member of the Presbyterian Church at Covington until its dissolution. He served as treasurer of Highland-Hopewell Cemetery Association 22 years. He was born in Wabash Township, Fountain County, on March 24, 1834, a son of Capt. Schylor and Catherine Cooper LaTourette. He attended area schools and was graduated from Covington High School and Purdue University. He

grandchildren and a great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by an infant son. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home at Covington with the Rev. George Beatty of
Crawfordsville officiating. Burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday. Masonic rites will be conducted at 8 p.m. Saturday. - jlr
