LASH, William
Source: The Hammond Times - Friday 27 December 1935 pg 1
Stricken with a heart attack as he was shoveling snow at his home, 548 Spruce avenue, Hammond, yesterday, William Lash died before help could be summoned. He had been working a short time on the walk in front of the house at 10 a.m. and apparently started to enter the house when he felt ill. He reached the porch, but fell backward down the steps. Lash was born at Attica, Ind., 67 years ago and came to Hammond 45 years ago. He was employed in the grocery department of the old Kaufmann and Wolf store for many years and had a wide acquaintance. His wife, who was an ardent worker in the republican party, died about 18 months ago. A brother, Fred Lash, Jr., former restaurant man, died several years ago. The only surviving near relative is a niece, Miss Margaret Hepner, who had lived at the Lash home for many years. He was a member of the First Christian church. The funeral will be held at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon from the Timmerman and Richardson chapel. Rev. M. G. Long of the South Side Christian church will officiate. Interment will be in Elmwood. The body will lie at the chapel prior to the service.
