Mrs. Marie E. Lakin, age 72, of Danville, Ill., sister of James Purcell of State Line, Ind., died at 9:55 a.m. Friday, Nov. 8, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Danville, Ill., where she had been a patient since Aug. 23. Mrs. Lakin was born March 14, 1896 in Chicago, the daughter of Charles and Minnie Burcher Purcell. She was married to Frank Lakin, who died in 1958. She also was preceded in death by one brother. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Danville. Surviving are: one son, Virgil Lakin of Kankakee, Ill.; one daughter, Mrs. Jack (Juanita) Henders of Danville; one grandchild and one great-grandchild. Also four sisters, Mrs. Tessie Lakin, Mrs. James Long, Miss Marjorie Purcell and Mrs. Stephen Allison, all of Danville, and three brothers, Charles Purcell of Snyder, Ralph Purcell of Chicago and James of State Line. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Patricks Catholic Church. The Rt. Rev. Msgr. Paul Kinder officiated and burial was in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Danville. --Typed by Debby Masterson.
