Cecil Merle Lade, 71, formerly of Attica, died at 7:56 a.m. Friday in St. Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center in Lafayette where he had been hospitalized for two weeks. He had been living in Otterbein. Mr. Lade was retired from Harrison Steel Castings Co where he was a welder. He later worked at the grain elevator in Stewart. Born in Beaverville, Ill Oct 16, 1920 he was educated there. He married Lillie Starnes Oct 16, 1941 in Kentland. She died Feb 7, 1978. Mr. Lade was a Marine Corps veteran of WWII and member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3318 in Attica and American Legion Post 259 in Williamsport. He also was a member of Eagles Lodge 2596 in Attica. Surviving are a son, Richard Lade of Oxford; a daughter, Mary Grubb of Oxford; a sister, Nelda Garrett of Kankakee, Ill and 7 brothers, Vernon Lade, Delmar Lade, Lloyd Lade and Joe Lade all f Kankakee; Glen Lade and Archie Lade both of California and Bill Lade of Illinois.

Lade, Cecil M. – Funeral Notice – Friends may call at Maus Funeral Home, Attica, 5-9 p.m. Sunday. Service in Maus Chapel, 2 p.m Monday the Rev. Gary Story officiating. Interment with military services at Riverside Cemetery, Attica. Surviving 4 grandchildren: Donnie and Larry Grubb, Atarr Albert and Chad Lade, 3 great grandchildren. A son, James Jake Lade, his parents and 2 brothers preceded him in death.
