Funeral services were held in Covington at 1:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon for Miss Bertha Jane Lacey age 70, who died Thursday morning at the Presbyterian Hospital in Chicago, following an extended illness. Miss Lacey had been a school teacher and she was also noted as an artist. She painted the mural in the Fountain County court house depicting the Civil War days.
Miss Lacey was born near Perrysville in Fountain County, the daughter of Elijah and Martha Wright Lacey, pioneers in that community. She is survived by three sisters: Mrs. Grace Metzger of Covington; Mrs. Cora

Funeral services were held at 1:30 o’clock Saturday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Grace Metzger at Covington in memory of her sister, Miss Bertha Jane Lace, age 70 who died Thursday morning at the Presbyterian Hospital in Chicago following an extended illness. Miss Lacey had been a school teacher and she was also noted as an artist. She painted the mural in the Fountain County court house depicting the Civil War Days. Miss Lacey was born near Perrysville in Fountain County, the daughter of Elijah and Martha Wright Lacey, pioneers in that community. She is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Metzger; Mrs. Cora Myers of Perrysville and Mrs. Minnie Lewis, Milford, Ill. The Rev. E.T. Miles of Perrysville was in charge of the services. Burial was made in Lower Mount cemetery north of Perrysville. --- Miss Lacey was well known in Attica and taught Kindergarden (sic) for several years here. Since then she had visited in the homes of several Attica people, being interested in DAR activities.

She painted on the murals in the Fountain County courthouse at Covington and was born near Sperrysville (sic) Ind. Three sisters survive: Mrs. Grace Metzger, Covington; Mrs. Cora Myer (sic), Perrysville; Mrs. Minnie Lewis, Milford Ill.
