John W (Bill) Kunkle, 76, died at 12:45 a.m. Monday April 22, 1957 at his home in Waynetown. He had been in ill health since February. Mr. Kunkle was born Oct 31, 1880 in Stone Bluff, son of Adam and Nancy Fowler Kunkle. He was married in 1904 at Wingate to the former Ada Murdock. A farmer in Wayne Township, he moved from the farm in 1935 and operated a dairy and was a general trucker prior to retirement 10 years ago. He was a member of the Methodist Church, Waynetown Merchants Assn and Knight of Pythias Lodge. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Frances Wray and a son, Paul both of Waynetown and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife and two daughters. Services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday with Rev. GT Johnson officiating. Burial was in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. – kbz
Waynetown - John W. Kunkle, 76, a native of Fountain County, died suddenly at 12:45 a.m. Monday in his home at Waynetown. He had been ill with a heart ailment since February. Born Oct. 31, 1880 at Stone Bluff, Mr. Kunkle was the son of Adam and Nancy Fowler Kunkle. He married Ada Murdock at Wingate in 1904. Mr. Kunkle was a farmer in Wayne Township for several years. He moved to Waynetown in 1935 and operated a dairy in Waynetown for 10 years. He also was in the trucking business here. Mr. Kunkle was a member of the Waynetown Methodist Church, Merchants Association and Knights of Pythias Lodge. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Frances Wray and a son, Paul Kunkle, both of Waynetown, and two grandchildren, Dale and Cheryl Kunkle. He was preceded in death by his wife and two daughters. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Servies Funeral Home at Waynetown. Burial will be at Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Rev. G.T. Johnson will be the officiating minister. Friends may call at the funeral home.
