Funeral services were held Saturday, Aug. 6, at the Veedersburg Christian Church for Ora Krout, age 47, who was found dead in bed at his home in Veedersburg Wednesday morning, Aug. 3. Death occurred apparently at about 6:00 am. He had been ill since October 1952 and had consulted a physician the previous evening, but had remained actively engaged at his occupation, custom baling, during this time. He was the son of Ivan and Nora Stevens Krout and was born in Alamo, Jan. 31, 1913. He was married Aug. 26, 1933 to Gertrude Parkinson, who survives. Also surviving are his parents, of Veedersburg, a daughter, Mrs. Zedith Laverne Corey of Kingman; a son, Ora LeRoy Krout of Veedersburg; four sisters, Mrs. Judy Dodson of Attica, Mrs. Recca Trinkle of Veedersburg, Mrs. Mildred Booe of Veedersburg and Mrs. Betty Baldwin of Crawfordsville; four brothers, Keith of Veedersburg, Lyle of Bakersfield, Calif., and Dale and Clarence of Covington and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers. The Fishero Funeral Home of Veedersburg were in charge of the arrangements. The Rev. Ralph Sell officiated. Burial was in Coal Creek Union Cemetery. - kbz

Ora Woodrow Krout, son of Ivan and Nora Stevens Krout was born near Alamo, Indiana Jan 31, 1913 and departed this life Aug 3 1960 age 47 years 6 months and 3 days.  He had lived in Veedersburg since boyhood.  On Aug 26, 1933, he was united in marriage to Gertrude Parkinson. To this union two children were born, a daughter, Mrs. Zedith Corey of near Kingman and a son, Ora LeRoy of Veedersburg. Besides the wife daughter and son the deceased is survived by his parents, four brothers, Keith of Veedersburg, Lyle of Bakersfield, California and Dale and Clarence, both of Covington; four sisters, Mrs. Recca Trinkle and Mrs. Mildred Booe, both of Veedersburg, Mrs. Judy Dotson of Attica and Mrs. Betty Baldwin of Crawfordsville and two grandchildren, Janet and Kenny Corey.  He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister. Ora was an honest, hard-working man. For many years he had done custom baling and was well known throughout this area. A heart condition had lessened his activities the last few years but he still maintained an active interest in his business. Ora was a hospitable man and his friends and relatives were always welcome in his home.  He was devoted to his home and family and his two grandchildren were his pride and joy.   We  shall always remember Ora as a soft-spoken man one who loved the great out-of-doors, one who loved to fish and hunt – a kind of man who had a great respect for the handiwork of God. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Veedersburg Christian Church. The body is at the Fishero Funeral Home and will lie in state at the church from 1 until 2. Rev.
