MARSHFIELD, Ind. - Donald Lee "Tuffy" Kochel, 36, of Marshfield, was killed at 11:45 a.m. Thursday (Oct. 5, 1972) when his clothing became entangled in a loader-auger, pulling him into the machinery. Kochel was helping to unload corn silage from a wagon to a silo on the Warren Wright farm one mile north of Marshfield when the accident occurred. He had been a farm hand for 20 years, working for Wright most of the time. He also had worked at the Beef House Restaurant. Born June 6, 1936, in Marshfield, he was the son of Earl and Bell Layton Kochel. He had resided in Marshfield all his life. He was married Jan. 14, 1967, in Marshfield to Linda Lou Hershberger, who survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Amanda Rashell and Allison Renee, both at home; his mother, Mrs. Bell Kochel; a brother, John; and three sisters, Miss Dixie Kochel, Miss Pauline Kochel and Mrs. Mary Hay, all of Marshfield. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Fisher Funeral Home in Williamsport. The Rev. Alfred Dobbs will officiate. Burial will be in West Lebanon Cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home. - jlr
