DAVID KNOWLES DIES AFTER AN OPERATION
Jan 12 1935 David Knowles 76 life long resident of Shawnee twoship near Stonebluff died at 7 o'clock Friday evening at Lake View Hospital Danville where last Saturday he submitted to an appendix operation. He was born in Shawnee twp. a son of Hamilton and Delia Knowles. Surviving are two sons Freeman and Walter of Shawnee township and a daughter Mrs. Ada Cole who lived with her father. Funeral Services will be held at 2'oclock Sunday afternoon at the Osborn Prairie Church with REv. Charles Howard officiating and nterment in the church cemetery.

David Knowles s/o Hamilton and Delilah Knowles was born Jul 23 1858 and departed this life January 11 1935 age 76 years 6 months and 18 days. He was born in Shawnee township and had been a resident of Fountain County his entire life. He was married to Lucy Butts April 29 1880. To this union four children were born, Freeman, Laura, Walter and Ada. His wife Lucy Knowles preceded him in death on 22 Jun 1891. The daughter Laura departed from this life 30 Jul 1914. He was married to Ollie Bolton on 11 Mar 1894. They contined to reside in this community untl their home was broken by her death on 23 Jun 1933. At this time his daughter Mrs. Ada Cole moved into his home with him and tenderly cared for her father until his death. He has passed - we now pause before the life of this father, neigbhor and citizen. A moan whose simple honest convictions were lived daily and he expresed his beliefs by not only living them within himself but passing to others the benefits of kindliness, thoughtfulness, and comfort e could give to those who were in need. He was peacable, quiet and unassuming yet brave and bold to all the undertakins of life. He never flinched or paused before the tasks that were his to meet. He possessed a judgement supreme in its dictates a a conscience pliable to the interests of everyone. To those who would rise above the common level he was a living example , for he has shown that love sympathy and human interst are the most valued mile stones of life.
