Williamsport - Mrs. Nettie Howard Kite, 85, of 6 High St, a retired teacher, died at 10:55 a.m. Friday at Meadow Heights Nursing Center. She had been a patient there two months and in ill health three months. Born at West Lebanon, she lived in Warren County all her life, the last 46 years at Williamsport. She was graduated from West Lebanon High School and a teacher's college in Idiana and taught at different schools in Warren County. She was a member of Williamsport Christian Church and formerly belonged to Chapter 111, Order of the Eastern Star here. In 1921 she was married at Danville, Ill., to William Estel Kite, who died in 1969. He was superintendent at the Williamsport Power and Water co. for several years. Surviving are one son, Joseph David Kite of Hobart, and one sister, Mrs. Irene Colling of Lapel. (Thanks, Beth)

Kite, Mrs Nettie Howard - Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Fisher Funeral Home, Williamsport. Service at 2 p.m. Monday at Fisher Chapel, the Rev. Joe Shryock officiating. Interment West Lebanon Cemetery. Two granddaughters also survive.
Source: The obituary is from a collection by Fauniel Hershberger, saved the 1950's, 60's and 70's. She was a life long resident of Fountain County Indiana. The collection is now housed at Crawfordsville District Public Library.
Nettie (Howard) Kite, 85, of 6 High St., Williamsport, passed away at the Meadow Heights Nursing Center Friday, July 23, 1976 where she had been a patient for two months. She had been in ill health for three months. She was born in West Lebanon, March 13, 1891 the daughter of Joseph E. and Marietta Wagner Howard. She had been a resident of Warren County all of her life, and of Williamsport for 46 years. She was married December 9, 1921 in Danville, Ill., to William Estel Kite and he preceded her in death in 1969. He had been the superintendent of the water and power company in Williamsport for several years. Mrs. Kite graduated from West Lebanon High School and also Indiana State Teachers College. She was a school teacher and had taught in Williamsport, Pence and West Lebanon. She was a member of the Williamsport Christian Church and also a past member of the Order of Eastern Star Rocky Dale Chapter 111. Surviving are one son, Joseph David Kite of Hobart, Ind.; one sister, Mrs. Eileen Collins of Lapel, Ind., and two granddaughters, Sandi Kite of Hobart and Mrs. Vicki Clinton of Merrilville, Indiana. Funeral services at the Fisher Funeral Home in Williamsport with Rev. Joe Shryock officiating. Internment in the West Lebanon Cemetery. -- typed by Barbara B
