Funeral services for James Kirts, 87, who die in Community Hospital, Williamsport, Sunday Feb. 2, were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the DeSutter Funeral Home with Rev. Burl Shinkle officiating. Burial took place in the Bethel Cemetery.
He was born Oct. 4, 1876, in Riverside, the son of Daniel and Sarah Riggs Kirts, He was married in 1896 to Iola McKinney who died in 1931. In 1932 at Covington he was married to Florence Stetler Smith who survives. Other survivors include three sons, Lloyd of Knox, Russell and Ralph, both of Lafayette; four daughters, Mrs. Emert Kingen and Mrs. Charles Rusk both of Lafayette, Mrs. Ed Batta, West Lafayette, and Mrs. Ted Crow of Attica; two brother, Ed of Flint, Ind., and Charles of Lafayette; 22 grandchildren, and 22 great-great-grandchildren; also three stepdaughters and six stepsons.
Mr. Kirts had long been a foreman for the Neal Gravel Company until he retired 16 Years ago.
