Attica, Ind. - George Vance Kirts, 78, Attica Route 2, died at 5:45 pm yesterday (Sept. 16, 1968) at Lake View Memorial Hospital where he had been a patient since Sept. 8. Born near Rainsville in Warrant County on Sept. 25, 1889, he was the son of John Winston and Lelia Rosetta Kirts. He first lived in the Rainsville area, then moved to a farm near Kingman before coming to Attica in 1947. He was first married at Attica in 1932 to Evelyn Grolow who preceded him in death on Feb. 22, 1955. He later married Ruby Ray. A farmer, Mr. Kirts worked, trained and road race horses. A former member of the United States Trotting Association, he traveled over the country. Surviving are four sons, Dwayne Vance Kirts, Oswego, NY, Thomas Burton Kirts, James Winston Kirts and George Vance Kirts Jr., all of Danville; a daughter, Mrs. Rosetta Griffith of Danville; two brothers, William Kirts of Attica Route 3, and Frank Kirts of Kingman. He also is survived by 18 grandchildren. Two brothers and one sister preceded him in death. Services will be at 2 pm Thursday at DeSutter Funeral Home in Attica. Burial will be in the Rainsville Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 pm Wednesday. -- typed by Barbara B
