New London - Mrs. Mildred Kirkton, 42, wife of New London's acting postmaster, Donald Kirkton, died at her home on South Main St. late last night following an illness of several years. Mrs. Kirkton had suffered a heart ailment. The body is at the Sackett-Eastman Funeral home here where arrangements are incomplete. Mrs. Kirkton, the former Mildred Songer was born in Veedersburg, Ind., and has lived in New London for nearly 20 years. She had been a physical education instructor before coming to New London.

New London - Services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in the First Methodist church for Mrs. Mildred Kirkton, 44, wife of New London's acting postmaster, Donald Kirkton. She died at her home on South Main St. late Wednesday night following an illness of several years. Rev. L. A. Crawford, pastor of the church, will officiate and burial will be in the Grove Street cemetery. The family has requested that flowers be omitted and that expressions of sympathy be made in the form of donations to the national heart fund, the Mary Bailey heart foundation, or the New London hospital auxiliary memorial fund. Surviving besides the husband, Donald, are two brothers, Carl, of Veedersburg, Ind., former superintendent of schools at Savannah; and Forrest, also of Veedersburg. Mrs. Kirkton was a teacher in Savannah two years before coming to New London in 1938. She was past president of the New London hospital auxiliary board, a member of the library board, and treasurer at the First Methodist church. The body is at the Sackett-Eastman Funeral home where friends may call starting today.
