Homer Russell Kirby, 80, a retired yard superintendent at Harrison's died Friday, June 24, 1977, in Home Hospital, Lafayette. He had been in ill health several years and hospitalized one day. He resided at 424 E. 4th St., in Williamsport. He was born and educated at Covington and had resided at Attica until moving to Williamsport seven years ago. He was a graduate of a Lafayette high school. In 1917 Mr. Kirby was married at Williamsport to Stella J. Solomon, and she survives. He was a yard superintendent for 43 years at Harrison Steel Castings Co. at Attica before his retirement in 1959. Mr. Kirby was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Attica. Surviving with the widow are two sons, Clifford Kirby of Attica, and Robert Kirby of Kingman seven daughters, Mrs. Steve (Jennie) Bennett of Kent, Wash., Mrs. John (Gwendolyn) Allen of Williamsport, Mrs. Verne (Geraldine) Gillispie of Tuscon, Ariz., Mrs. Joe (Margaret) Bell of Lafayette Mrs. Harold (Dorothy) McMurtrie of Attica, Mrs. Robert (Marilyn) Clawson of Marshalltown, Iowa, and Mrs. Howard (Sharla) Blythe of Stockton, Calif.; and two sisters, Mrs. Edith Lefler of Gary, and Mrs. Mary VanLaere of Attica; and three brothers, Arthur and Archie Sweeney, both of Covington, and Floyd Kirby of St, Joseph, Mich. Also surviving are 20 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren. Services at Maus Chapel in Attica with the Rev. Joseph Bell, a grandson, and the Rev. Harvey Lange officiating. Interment at Riverside Cemetery, Attica. Those so desiring may contribute in memoriam to the Heart Fund. - jlr
