ATTICA — Clifford L. Kirby, 76, Attica, died at 1:50 p.m. Monday, Aug. 7, 2006 in St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis. He was born Oct. 17, 1929 in Attica, the son of Homer Russell and Stella Jane (Solomon) Kirby. He married Phyllis J. Turner Feb. 24, 1950 in Attica. She survives. He was a life resident of Attica, graduating from Attica High School in 1948. He worked at Harrison Steel Castings Company in Attica for 43 years, retiring in 1994. He served in the Indiana National Guard for 12 years. He was a member of the Attica First United Methodist Church, Eagles Lodge #2596 of Attica, and the Attica Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors, besides the wife, include: two sons, Richard L. “Rick” (Nora) Kirby, Battle Ground and Rusty B. (Lisa) Kirby, Attica; six sisters, Jennie (William) Bennett, Apache Junction, Ariz., Gwen Allen and Marilyn Clawson, both of Williamsport, Margaret (Joe) Bell, Lafayette, Dorothy McMurtrie, Attica, and Sharla (Howard) Blythe, Stockton, Calif.; six grandchildren, Amy (Michael) Crabtree, Kristopher (Kristen) Kirby, Aaron (Jennie) Kirby, Travis Kirby, Nicholas Kirby and Kathryn Kirby; two step grandchildren, Dillon and Devin Deel; and five great-grandchildren, Devin, Logan and Luke Crabtree, and Cameron and Addisen Kirby. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Robert Kirby; and a sister, Geraldine Gillespie. Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Friday in Maus Funeral Home, Attica, with Pastors George Weister and Joe Bell officiating. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Attica.
