Charles Owen Kingen, 77, of 911 North Street, Attica, died Tuesday morning, Aug. 11, 1981, at Carle Clinic in Urbana. He had been ill since July. Formerly employed at National Home in Lafayette, he also worked at C & D Battery plant in Attica as a welder and in maintenance department. He served in the Navy during World War I and was a member of the Eagles Lodge 2596 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3318, both of Attica. Born July 10, 1904, in Wallace he was the son of David Franklin and Mary Alice Burnworth Kingen. He married Elizabeth Hysong on July 15, 1933, in Crowin Point. She survives. Other survivors include a son, Charles V. Kingen of Tilton, Ill; a brother, Earl Kingen of Lafayette; two sisters, Mrs. Dessie Green and Mrs. Winfred Fay, both of Attica; four grandchildren, five great grandchildren, five great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Services will be at 10:30 Friday morning in the Maus Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Marvin Jones officiating. Burial will be in Riverside cemetery, with military graveside rites. - jlr

Charles Owen Kingen of Attica, age 77, died Tuesday morning, August 11, in Carle Clinic at Urbana, Illinois. He was born in Wallace, July 10, 1904, the son of David Franklin and Mary Alice Burnworth Kingen. July 15, 1933, he married Elizabeth Hysong, who survives. A Navy veteran of World War I, he was a member of the Attica Eagles Lodge and VFW. He was formerly employed at National Homes in Lafayette and also worked at C & D Battery Company in Attica.
Also surviving are a son, Charles V. of Tilton, Illinois; two sisters, Mrs. Dessie Green and Mrs. Winifred Fay, both of Attica; a brother, Earl of Lafayette; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren.Funeral services were held Friday morning at Maus Funeral Chapel in Attica with Rev. Marvin Jones officiating. Military graveside rites and burial were in Riverside Cemetery at Attica.- s
