Mrs. Walter (Helen Evelyn) Kiger, age 63, a resident of Covington Rt. 3, died at 12:55 a.m. Tuesday, Feb 15 in St. Elizabeth Hospital in Danville, Ill., where she had been a patient 10 days. She had been in ill health for some time. Mrs. Kiger was born in Danville, Ill., March 1 1902, the daughter of Ira H. and Anna McClurge Baker. She was married Nov 17 1921, to Walter Kiger, who survives. She served in the Women's Army Corps during World War II and was a member of the Fulton-Banta Post 291, American Legion of Covington. Surviving in addition to the husband, who moved their home furnishings to the Robert Cunningham property on Third St., Monday, are one foster son, Kenneth Madden of Fairview, Ohio; two sisters Mrs. Dot Miller of Portland, ore., and Mrs. Frances Evans of Covington; one brother, Tom Baker of Covington; and several nieces and nephews. The body is at the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home in Covington where friends may callk after 2 p.m. Wednesday Feb 16 and Wednesday night. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. the Rev. Donald Ashley will officiate and burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Covington. - thanks to Betty D.
