ATTICA — Betty Jean (Helms)
Kerkhove, 73, Attica, died at the Alive Hospice in Madison, Tenn, on Saturday,
December 15, 2007. Betty was born in Veedersburg on December 31, 1933. She was
the daughter of the late Zone Allen and Lyda Marie Haverstick Helms. She was
raised in Shawnee Township, graduating in 1951, as Salutatorian of her class at
Attica High School. On June 8, 1956, Betty married Victor E. Kerkhove in
Williamsport. He survives. Before she married, Betty worked as a clerk for the
Central National Bank & Trust in Attica for five years. After she married,
she enjoyed being a homemaker, was well known for her wonderful cooking, and
always looked forward to playing euchre with her many friends. She attended the
Veedersburg Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. Surviving besides her husband,
Victor, are a son, Gary (Sarah) Kerkhove, Mt. Juliet, Tenn.; a brother, Gale
(Ladonna) Helms, rural Veedersburg; four grandchildren, Nicole, Natalie,
Kristen and Luke. Friends will be received at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica, on
Friday, Dec. 21st, from 5-8 p.m. Services will be held at the funeral home, on Sat.
Dec. 22nd at 1 p.m. Burial will follow in the Riverside Cemetery, Attica.
