Mellott - Vernell "Mike" Keller, 58, of Mellott, a former manager of Fountain County Farm Bureau Co-op and former Mellott town marshal, died Tuesday afternoon in Veterans Hospital at Danville, Ill. He had been ill since 1973. He also was a former manager of Knowles Grain Co. at Mellott and Gessie Farm Bureau Co-op. Mr. Keller was a veteran of World War II. He was a member of Mellott United Church of Christ, Mellott Volunteer Fire Department and Quigle-Palin American Legion Post. He was born near Covington on Jan. 19, 1918, a son of Clyde and Margaret Woodrow Keller. He was married to Mary Margaret Furr on Aug. 10, 1938, at Covington. Surviving are his wife; his mother of Covington; three sons, David of Mellott, Michael of Lafayette and Vernon of Altus, Okla.; a daughter, Virginia Ashmore of Mellott; a sister, Mrs. Basil Niccum of Covington; three brothers, Harold of Lafayette, Charles of Veedersburg and James of Covington; and 12 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons and two brothers. Services will be at 2 pm Friday in Dale Maus Funeral Home at Attica with the Rev. Robert Boyd officiating. Burial will be in Newtown Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home 3-5 and 7-9 pm Thursday. Military graveside services will be conducted by the American Legion. - thanks muches, Barbara B for typing me :)
