Robert L. Keeling of Waynetown died at 8:30 a.m. Monday in the Indiana Veterans Home at West Lafayette. He was 85. Mr. Keeling lived in the Waynetown are for many years where he farmed, worked as a carpenter and drove a school bus. His memberships included Waynetown United Methodist Church. He was raised and attended school in Veedersburg until his 1944 enlistment in the Navy. He served during WWII in the Pacific Theater aboard the USS Howard Gray. He was born Feb 15, 1925 at Veedersburg, to John and Dora Lee (Payton) Keeling. He married Doris J. Cook on Feb 27, 1947 at Hillsboro. She survives. Also surviving is a son, Ron (Dona) Keeling of Crawfordsville; a daughter, Marcia (Wayne) Homsher of Crawfordsville and two grandchildren. Seven brothers and two sisters are deceased. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday in Dickerson Funeral Home at Veedersburg with Rev. Dorman Winger officiating. Burial will be in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery with military honors provided by the American Legion Post 288 of Veedersburg. Friends may call at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
