Thomas M. Keefer, well known in this county, died of pneumonia at his home near this city early Saturday morning. He had been seriously ill but a few days. He was not strong, being affected with weak lungs, and a few days ago got wet while making a trip to town, pneumonia resulting therefrom. Thomas Keefer was born in Ross county, Ohio, November 1st, 1848, and came with his parents to this county in 1854, settling at Rob Roy, then one of the principal towns of the county. He was the fifth child of a family of nine children and the son of Israel and Margaret hall Keefer. At the age of fifteen years, a mere boy, he entered the service of his country remaining in the same until the close of the war, when he was mustered out and given a discharge of which he always had reason to be proud. On February 20th, 1884, he was united in marriage to Miss Emma Pade, who survives him to mourn the loss of a loving and devoted husband. To this union were born six children two of whom died in infancy. Myrtle, Ray, Carson and Elouise remain, to mourn the death of a kind father. He is also survived by two brothers, James and Charles. He died October 22nd, 1905, aged 56 years, 11 months and 21 days. He was a member of the Knights of Pythias Lodge, an excellent citizen with a host of friends wherever he was known and all join in mourning the death of one who made the world better by the life he has lived. Funeral services, conducted by the Rev. J. H. Palmer of the M. E. church, were held from the family residence south east of the city at 2 p.m., Tuesday interment following in Mount hope Cemetery. The attendance was very large.
